Tips To Choose A List Service On Ezine

Publishing e-newsletters or ezines is a very attractive prospect these days. You not only get to share some valuable information, but can also earn good revenue by the way of advertisements. If your ezine reaches a good number of people, then you are in a very powerful position. If you have a big subscriber list of people who have “opted-in” for your service, and trust you for your advice and recommendations, you can expect a large number of businesses that are ready to advertise on your ezine. This could be a big source of revenue. If you put out regular newsletter that promotes your products or services that you sell through the internet, then this can result in some amazing conversion rates. However, for all this to work effectively you will need to make your ezine or the newsletter reach as many people as possible. In order to be able to do this, you will need the services of a “list service”, or “listserve”, as they are popularly known in business.

Listserve will help you deliver your ezine to your audience. There are many listserves that are available to do the job for you.  But before deciding on any one service, there are certain things that you should be sure of and should know, to avoid trouble at a later stage. It is preferred to use a listserve that uses Multi-Part MIME technology. This will help you publish a standard HTML ezine that will be easy to read by all, irrespective whether they have this support or not. In absence of the use of this technology, you will need to publish different versions for users who cannot read HTML, those using AOL, etc.

The other aspect is their service. Enquire whether they offer any tutorials and help to understand the whole process. This is especially preferred by people who are new to this kind of publishing, or are not too familiar with the latest technology. Equally important is the customer service. To test this, enquire about how quickly they respond. If the response takes more than 24 hours, you should stay away from the service. Just imagine how their service will be once they have your money! Also make sure how soon they would let you know if there is a problem with their service. Also try finding out if there are other businesses like yours doing business with them. If the major clients of the service are big businesses, then it is very much possible that a small business owner maybe neglected.

Also check out the ease of use of the service. Do they have a simple interface wherein you can set-up and launch your ezines with least complications? It is also preferable to have the option of manually adding and removing people from the list, if you need to. You should also receive regular subscriber reports stating the number of subscribers that have joined/left the subscription since the last issue.
